Felieke van der Leest a suivi une formation d'orfèvre traditionnelle et est diplômée de la section bijoux de la célèbre Académie Gerrit Rietveld à Amsterdam.

Elle a découvert qu'à partir de son passe-temps bien-aimé pour le tricot et le crochet, qu'elle a appris dès son enfance avec mère, elle pouvait créer des bijoux comme "du jamais vu". Un vrai talent d'artiste : un sens du détail, une habileté technique combinés avec un sens de l'humour.

Felieke Van der Leest utilise des animaux de jouets en plastique pour raconter des histoires ou traduire des pensées et les idées. Ce sont des contes de fée, des sujets sur les problèmes environnementaux ou l'abus des animaux.

Son attention pour la matière contemporaine, les qualités narratives et l'esprit ludique font que son travail est sans cesse renouvellé.
